Learning about and growing in our catholic faith is a life-long process, and we have many options for the children of our parishes. We understand that all families have different needs and we offer programs that can work for everyone.
We are excited to announce that our parish is going to start working together more with St Elizabeth Ann Seton so that we can offer more programs to all of our families.
Faith Formation Options (2024-25)
Traditional Classroom Model Faith Formation: Grades 1-6
You can register your child for either location regardless of which parish you belong to, however once you decide you need to stay at that location (you can’t attend classes at one location one week, and the next another time). The Catechists will use the same curriculum, but teaching methods and order of topics covered may differ, so the children need to be consistent with attendance in the model that they choose.
Classes will start the weekend of September 7-9, 2024. Full schedule to follow.
Grades 1 and 2
-
- Every other Saturday at Immaculate Conception from 9-11 a.m.
- Every other Sunday at St Elizabeth Ann Seton from 9:40-11:15 a.m.
Grades 3-5
-
- Every other Monday evening at Immaculate Conception from 6-8 p.m.
- Every other Sunday at St Elizabeth Ann Seton from 9:40-11:15 a.m.
Grade 6
-
- Every other Monday evening at Immaculate Conception from 6-8 p.m. (We will have only one class for both parishes for 6th grade)
Catechesis of the Good Shepherd
This is a Montessori style of faith formation. There are no textbooks…it’s a hands-on way to learn about the Gospels and our faith. Sessions are at Immaculate Conception three out of four weeks of the month. Learn more about Catechesis of the Good Shepherd.
If you haven’t participated in CGS in the past, we ask you to attend the Open House on Monday, August 26 at 6:30 p.m. in the Immaculate Conception Administration building before you sign up. Families returning to CGS can register below.
Family Centered Model
This has been the “Home Study” option in the past. You will still receive a book to work on at home, however there will be a schedule of gatherings once a month throughout the school year to come learn as a family and turn in your book work. The family evenings will primarily be on Tuesdays evenings or holy days. The monthly meetings are a required part of the family centered study.
Catholic School
If you are sending your child to a Catholic school, we ask that you still register them online (Please select the grade level and select “Catholic School” on the drop down menu). Catholic school students do not need to attend all in-person classes, but it helps us to keep track of everyone so that we know where everyone is completing their faith formation. It also helps us to reach out to you for sacramental preparation! As parish families, you are invited to all of the Family Formation nights.
We look forward to working with all of our families this year! If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Susan Cheplic, Director of Faith Formation, at skcheplic@dioceseofgreensburg.org.
