Note: Eucharistic Adoration will follow 7:45 a.m. Mass until Noon on Tuesday, March 4, and there will be no confessions or 6:30 p.m. evening Mass on Tuesday.
ASH WEDNESDAY IS A DAY OF FAST AND ABSTINENCE!!!!
The Catholic Church marks this most solemn beginning of the Lenten season not only with the outward sign of the Ashes received that day but a profound deep sense of preparation and conversion with honoring the Sacred Fast and Abstinence as well.
Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are obligatory days of fasting and abstinence for Catholics. In addition, Fridays during Lent are obligatory days of abstinence. Fasting for those 18 to 59 years of age allows one full meal and two smaller meals. Friday abstinence from meat begins at age 14. It could be a great time also to fast from TV, social media, daily coffee, treats, etc.
